Jan 15th, 2013 - A night with Joe Bataan



The Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) Metro New York is honored to present Joe Bataan with a Lifetime Achievement Award!

Joe Bataan, also known as the King of Latin Soul, is best known for his musical mashup of Boogaloo, Latin Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Salsa, Disco, Latin Funk, Latin R&B, Latin Jazz, & Rap .... Born and raised in Spanish Harlem in 1942 to an African-American mother and Filipino father, he changed the face of music forever.

Kilusan Bautista (Universal Self/ FANHS Outstanding Artist 2012)

Liz Cassasola (Broadway Barkada)
Randy Gener (FANHS Outstanding Artist 2012)

Admission is free although donations are quite welcome and will help sustain future cultural and educational programs and events.

A RAFFLE OF VARIOUS PRIZES WILL ALSO HELP TO PAY FOR FANHS EVENTS

ta-ga-logue (preview)




On Saturday July 21st, 2012, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe witnessed the preview of ta-ga-logue, a night of original monologues and theatrical works about Filipino American identity.  Produced by Leslie Espinosa, Precious Sipin and Kilusan Bautista, ta-ga-logue brought together a diversity of NYC based performance artists:

This preview was designed to get people excited about the larger production which is scheduled for Oct 12th & 13th, 2012 at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, honoring Filipino American History Month.
